The intrauterine ball has a Pearl Index of 0.3 to 0.8, which means that among 1000 women, 3 to 8 fall pregnant within a year. Just like with any other contraceptive, there is a small chance for an unwanted pregnancy, but it is very unlikely.
However, if you do decide to have children before the expiry of the IUB’s five-year contraceptive effect, you can have it removed at any time by a doctor, after which your fertility will be restored immediately.
