Vaccinations can protect you from infections with various sexually transmitted diseases. This is very important because sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) can seriously threaten your health and well-being. What is more, through sexual contacts those affected can pass on many of these diseases to their partners without noticing. Therefore, they can also endanger the health of your sexual partner. The symptoms often only become apparent a certain period of time after initial infection.
Symptoms may be itching or burning sensations in the genital area, impaired fertility, cervical cancer or may even threaten your life.

A vaccination against HPV (human papilloma virus) can prevent women from getting infected with the virus that can lead to cervical cancer.
Then there is the problem with the far less dangerous, but still very annoying vaginal infections. Many women know them and are unsuccessfully looking for remedies for the symptoms which are often recurring. But to the surprise of many affected women, there is already a vaccination against recurring vaginal infections, which we offer at VenusMed.
Vaccination against HPV (Human Papilloma Virus)
The human papilloma virus (HPV) is a virous group that infects human skin and mucosal cells. The virus is one of the main causes of cervical cancer (also called cervical carcinoma) and can therefore be very dangerous for women. HPV is transmitted through direct physical contact (such as during sexual intercourse), whereby the viruses can penetrate through tiny injuries of the skin or mucosa.
Usually an infection causes benign tumours, such as warts. Although there are a few types of the virus which bear a high risk, as they can cause malicious tumours. The types HPV 16 and HPV 18 (which are transmitted via sexual intercourse) are part of these dangerous pathogens. They are responsible for most cervix carcinomas (cervical cancers).
Fortunately, an HPV vaccination has been available since 2006. It protects women against approximately 70% of cervical cancer cases and 90% of genital warts.
This protection, which consists of three partial vaccinations, is most effective if it is given to girls or women before their first sexual intercourse. Therefore, the most suitable age for the vaccination is between 9 and 14 years. According to the current state of knowledge, a booster is not needed.
Vaccination against vaginal infections
Numerous women suffer from recurring vaginal infections or inflammations. The symptoms such as itching, burning, pain or foul-smelling discharge can greatly impact their well-being.
The causes for vaginal infections are, for example, antibiotics, hormonal imbalances (as during pregnancy or menopause), excessive personal hygiene, or stress and psychological burdens – all of which can lead to an imbalanced vaginal flora.

Although acute symptoms often disappear quickly when treated with specific suppositories or creams, they often return in many women – as their mucosa may have an immune deficiency, which allows bacteria and fungi to colonise in the vagina.
Hence, there is a new vaccination for women with this problem, which has an immunising effect and thus strengthens the immune system and health of the vaginal flora.
